New Castle is a town/city in Henry County, Indiana, 44 miles (71 km) east-northeast of Indianapolis, on the Big Blue River.

The town/city is the governmental center of county of Henry County. New Castle is home to New Castle Fieldhouse, the biggest high school gymnasium in the world.

New Castle Correctional Facility, with a capacity of over 3,500 inmates, is positioned just north of the city.

New Castle was platted in 1823, and titled after New Castle, Kentucky. A postal service was established at New Castle in 1823. The Maxwell Automobile Factory, later owned and directed by Chrysler Motor Corp.

William Grose House, Henry County Courthouse, and New Castle Commercial Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. New Castle is positioned at 39 55 25 N 85 21 54 W. According to the 2010 census, New Castle has a total region of 7.311 square miles (18.94 km2), of which 7.29 square miles (18.88 km2) (or 99.71%) is territory and 0.021 square miles (0.05 km2) (or 0.29%) is water. New Castle is a third class town/city and has a seven-member town/city council chaired by the mayor.

City elections are held every four years in the year preceding presidential elections.

New Castle Community School Corporation Indiana University East: Henry County Danielson Center Nine of the eleven biggest high school gyms in the United States are in Indiana.

The biggest of these is the New Castle Fieldhouse at New Castle High School.

The fieldhouse has a capacity of 9,325.The fieldhouse is notable for a 1961 State Sectional Game between New Castle and Lewisville (now part of South Henry School Corporation) in which the fans attending the game were snowed in.The next morning food was bringed to the Fieldhouse by a small-town bakery and a church service was piped into the gym.

New Castle is home to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame positioned near New Castle Chrysler High School.

Next to New Castle High School is a Native American mound dated to approximately 2000 BP.
