North Vernon is positioned at 39 0 18 N 85 37 40 W (39.004991, -85.627758). According to the 2010 census, North Vernon has a total region of 6.63 square miles (17.17 km2), of which 6.62 square miles (17.15 km2) (or 99.85%) is territory and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2) (or 0.15%) is water. As of the census of 2010, there were 6,728 citizens , 2,656 homeholds, and 1,667 families residing in the city.
