Sellersburg takes its name from its founder, Moses Sellers, who laid out the town in 1846. Sellersburg incorporated in 1890. The first postal service at Sellersburg was established in 1854, at which time the name was spelled Sellersburgh. Sellersburg interval up at 38 23 13 N 85 45 27 W (38.386823, -85.757543). According to the 2010 census, Sellersburg has a total region of 3.97 square miles (10.28 km2), of which 3.94 square miles (10.20 km2) (or 99.24%) is territory and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km2) (or 0.76%) is water. As of the census of 2010, there were 2,300 citizens , 1,700 homeholds, and 1,500 families residing in the town.
